INTRO

Crepes originated in the Bretagne region of France. It all started in the 12th century and was generalized after the 20th century. The large population of catholics in France have a tradition to eat crepes on many occasions. Saint-Malo is one of the most famous cities in Bretagne, sitting along the coast of a wide emerald sea. Right in front of the sea, you will find the creperie, Le Corps de Garde. 

 

ATMOSPHERE

Saint-Malo was once known as 'a pirates' city'. The nautical decorations and wooden interior of  Le Corps de Garde, bring you back to the days of fighting scavangers sailing the open seas.  

 

 

 

WHAT TO EAT

Crepes are more commonly known to be sweet, accompanied by nutella and fruit. But actually in France, there are two kinds of crepes, CRÊPES SALES and CRÊPES SUCRÉES. Crepes Sales are more appropriate for a meal, while Crepes Sucrees are for desserts.  Crepes sales are also called 'galette'. Usually made with flour or buckwheat flour.

 

CIDRE BRUT SORRE

Cidre is fermented wine with apple which is famous in Bretagne and Normandy. It gives you more of an appetite before starting your meal. 

 

LES COMTESSES (GALETTE WITH SCALLOPS AND GALIC BUTTE)

The perfect meal for sitting by the sea, this crepe is served with fresh scallops accompainied by some soft garlic butter. The taste is rich and not greasy.  

 

LES COUILLONS DE LA PORTE (GALETTE WITH POTATOES, CHEESE, HAM, AND CREAM)

This galette is filled with various ingredients including potatoes, cheese, ham, and cream. They use a cheese that is marked with the AOP stamp, reserved for traditional products with deep-rooted regional origins in Europe. 

 

The staff uniforms are interesting and fun. It feels as though pirates are serving you aboard a ship. 

 

O'BON PARIS' NOTE

This creperie has the perfect location just in front of the rolling sea. These delicious traditional breton crepes should not be missed. Sit down to enjoy a cup of coffee or a full meal. The crepe seems a bit small in quantity but packed with various ingredients, you will feel quite full and satisfied after. Green salads are served on the side for 3 euros, and french fries for 4 euros.
