Menton located at the border of France and Italy. Menton in French means chin, which means that Menton is in the lower half of France. With his spectacular views of the beautiful Mediterranean beaches and mountains, Mouton owes its name to the French bead. These make us realize why the Menton has the nickname 'The Pearl of France'.
It takes about 40 minutes by intercity train from Nice station, local called it TER. Therefore, that probably better to stay in Nice and explore the area closed by. You can buy the train ticket on the station. You can also go to the Ligne d’Azur boutique ahead of time (across from the Promenade du Paillon just off Place Garibaldi, or across from the Train Station) and buy a Ticket Azur for the same price of 1.50€, but the advantage with the Ticket Azur is that it works for one transfer in Nice within 2 1/2 hours. This Ticket Azur is worth the trouble if you plan to take the Nice tramway or another bus before going to Monaco, and will save you buying two tickets when you could just by one Ticket Azur.
TER. Train Intercity
From Nice Ville train station, you have to take a TER direction Monaco, you will pass through Eze Sur Mer station and Monaco station.
Price : 4-7 Euros
Duration : about 40 minutes
Bus Number 100
You now catch the bus 100 at the top of the Port just like before, but now you catch it on the church side (the stop is just to the right of the church, in front of the Brassiere du Vieux Port). You can also go to the Ligne d’Azur boutique ahead of time and buy a Ticket Azur for the same price of 1.50€, but the advantage with the Ticket Azur is that it works for one transfer in Nice within 2 1/2 hours. This Ticket Azur is worth the trouble if you plan to take the Nice tramway or another bus before going to Monaco, and will save you buying two tickets when you could just by one Ticket Azur.Compared to trains, the prices are relatively cheap, but there will be so much stop. I personally recommend to take the trains.
Price : 1.5Euro
Duration : About 1 hour
MUSEE DU BASTION JEAN COCTEAU
The museum works by the famous French poet Jean Cocteau located on the harbor wall of Menton, on the French Riviera, in the Alpes-Maritimes department of France. The exhibition gallery is divided into two places, and its only five minute walk away. A special space made of 17th century Soboru located in the harbor. Plage des sablettes, the area where you can enjoy not only the beautiful sandy beach, but also the charming old buildings.
The stairs to go up to the Saint Michel congregation of Menton is truly unique.
Climbing up to see the invincible beautiful sea view. Between this two buildings , you can see a spectacular natural view.
BASILIQUE RAMPE SAINT-MICHEL
This buildings that built on the 17th -18th centuries are located in the best places on the hill from the cathedral of Saint Michel.
There is a small square in front of the church, do not go straight down the stairs, but continue to the right. You will find this view
Menton is a beautiful city with narrow alleys and pedestrian streets.
Find different characteristics and many interesting things when you walk pass by the alleys.
CIMETIERE DU VIEUX CHATEAU
At the end of the hill, there is a graveyard. If you visit, do not forget to enjoy the scenery and enjoy the quiet atmosphere as it is the place to honor the deceased..
I saw the entire view of Menton from the railing of the cemetery, the beautiful scenery was deeply imprinted in my mind.
Situated in the town centre, this is where are exhibited the extravagant citrus sculptures during the Lemon Festival of Menton. A very close garden to the railway station and City Hall, which usually the Fête du Citron held every year.
If you take a train, you can see the beautiful sea of Cote d'Azur all the way back to Nice.
