Blue Lagoon, Comino Island, Malta

Escape plan to Blue Lagoon, where heaven seems real

The Republic of Malta is comprised of 3 main islands which are Malta, Gozo, and Comino. Between Malta and Gozo lies the tiny island of Comino which is considered to be the paradise for not only the tourist but amongst Maltese locals too. It is the perfect place to escape the world full of social media and chaos, isolate yourself from your phone for a day and enjoy the so-called heaven on earth: Blue Lagoon.

The cruise to Blue Lagoon normally departs from Sliema Waterfront and cruise up to the north to Comino Island passing by several attractions such as St. Julian's Bay, St. George's Bay, Qawra Bay, St. Paul's Bay, and Mellieha Bay. The cruise usually takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive to the amazing Comino Island.

When you finally arrive at Blue Lagoon, everything here will just amaze you starting with the crystal clear turquoise-coloured water which does not seem real at all. Blue Lagoon is known for being one of the most beautiful spots around the Maltese Islands. It is a shallow area between islands which creates the natural pool for you to enjoy swimming, snorkelling, and diving.

When you leave the vessel, you will find the little spot along with the crystal clear water to rent beach chairs and an umbrella to protect you from the sun and the heat and for you to sunbathe. It can be really crowded in the high season, ideally between July to September, so it is better if you can come as early in the year as possible. You can leave your personal belongings at the beach chairs, but if wanted to be sure that it is safe, there are safes for rent as well. To snorkel, you can either bring your own mask or rent it on the vessel or island.

On some vessels, there will be free WiFi, lunch, drinks, or even a sunbathing deck provided depending on the operator and the package you purchase. We recommend you find the beach chair spot first to keep your belongings and walk around the island to take pictures before enjoying the amazing time in the crystal clear water. The water can be cold even if the weather is certainly hot, which gives you a fresh feeling and excitement immediately when you enter the water.

Cruise to Blue Lagoon, Comino Island, Malta

O'bon Paris' tip

The cruise to Comino Island, Blue Lagoon always comes with the choice to drop by Gozo Island. If you would like to visit both Gozo Island and Comino Island you might not have enough time to spend at Blue Lagoon to snorkelling and swimming. Gozo Island can be visited separately by the ferry directly from Cirkewwa Ferry Terminal and the ticket is not very expensive. We recommend that you to buy the cruise with the package to go only to Comino Island, Blue Lagoon in order to have plenty of time to enjoy heaven on earth, sunbathing, reading your favourite book, swimming, snorkelling, and several more activities. This will surely be an unforgettable memory for you.
