After walking on the famous Promenade des Anglais, we decided to keep walking along the sea. After 10 minutes of walk, we arrived at Nice's old harbour a place inhabited by only local people. Nice's harbour is very cut, surrounded by typical Nice's colorful houses with Italian influence and filled by huge Mediterranean Yachts.
While enjoying the local atmosphere, we discovered the very charming restaurant Le Local in the very center of the harbour. The restaurant's outside terrasse is closed by Mediterranean plants.
We have been welcomed by Pascal – the restaurant director who is a very warm and welcoming person. With a great patience and passion, he introduces to us the restaurant and the local food.

The place is both a restaurant and a delicatessen shop following the Italian tradition of the entire family living and working in the same place, ruling both a shop and a restaurant, and living at the background of the room. At the very end of the restaurant, there is an opened kitchen that allows us to enjoy the cooking and talk with the very friendly Italian chef.

The restaurant vintage decoration has been done with love. On each table, there is a romantic candle. Most of the guest are local regular clients and the restaurant is full every night. The Local is indeed called « the Cantine of Locals ». So, we advised you to come before 8 pm to get a table.
The Italian restaurant Le Local embodies the history of Nice. Nice which has been under Italian influence for centuries has welcomed many Italian workers during the last century who maintained the Italian tradition of the city.
The place is generous. Small starters and digestive alcools are offered by the house.

All the dishes are cooked with Fresh ingredients (fruits and vegetables come from the local market).
We have chosen the best salers warmly recommended by the Italian chef. To sum up, the food is excellent, we highly recommend this area. Meals are prepared right in front our eyes.
As starter : a set of fried vegetables with delicious mozzarela and Mediterranean fish. The sensation in the mouth is very fresh and the fish reminds us that Nice is harbour city. The meal is cold. "Personally, have never eaten so good Mozzarela - typical Italian goat cheese -

Papardelle aux truffes : Truffle taste gives a natural and unique mushroom taste to the past
Spaghettis aux poulpes : the spaghettis are invaded by the taste of fresh tomatoes, olive and octopus.
We finished with a home made Tiramisu as a dessert. Tiramisu is a famous Italian dessert.

The Italian owner Walter who arrives in Nice at the age of 13 is a very open-minded person. Walter is the kind of person that loves to welcome foreign tourists. He is very respectful of different cultures. He likes new ideas and wants to make Nice change into a less conservative city. He wants Nice to receive more alternative cultures, makes the city fresh and dynamic.
Walter's open personnality makes his restaurant become a warm and welcoming place, and he even succeeded in influencing his neighbourhood to become more trendy and open.

Whereas le Local is half shop half restaurant, le Rosalina is half a restaurant half a cocktail bar.
Le Rosalina's inside design has been made by Walter's wife with love. She created a very comfortable atmosphere mixing kitchen and living room spirits.
-We loved it because she makes us enter in an artistic conceptual environment.
Le Rosalina's meals were excellent : fresh, simple and delicious. The main advantage is the price. But, the quality is there.
Le Rosalina is a very confortable and delicious low price cantine. You can eat delicious meal for 10 euros only.
We took the daily meals which were just perfect:
-a tourte : a tourte is a French salty pie filled with green vegetables and very fin cow cheese skin.

Gorgonzola Pasta : which are an Italian speciality. The pasta are full of cow cheese and cream. This cheese is quite strong and similar to blue cheese. French love it but the Asian may think it is a bit strong. You can ask the chef to make you taste the cheese before ordering.
Le Rosalina's motto is no freezer, only fresh and natural products !
During the evening, le Rosalina offers home made natural cocktails at its vintage bar. Waiters are very nice and helps you engage in a direct and easy way with Nice's local people.
