French art de vivre is often associated with wine, fresh bread and fine cheese—but butter deserves just as much recognition. In France, especially in the northern regions of Brittany and Normandy, butter is more than a staple; it's part of the country's culinary identity. In recent years, French butter has gained international fame, thanks in part to the cult following of Bordier butter.
While exceptional butter can be found in gourmet food shops and delicatessens across France, Le Butter Shop is the first boutique entirely dedicated to butter. If you're planning a visit, don't forget to download our coupon to enjoy 10% off your purchases.

Founded by French butter enthusiast Erwan, Le Butter Shop is a must-visit for anyone who loves butter—or simply wants to discover how refined this humble ingredient can be.

One surprise awaits first-time visitors: you won't find Bordier butter on the shelves. That's a deliberate choice. As Bordier has become widely available, the shop has chosen instead to showcase smaller, artisanal producers whose butters are harder to find.

The carefully curated selection includes Le Vieux Bourg, Beillevaire, Beurre Dupont, Rodolphe Le Meunier, Au Bon Beurre, Échiré and Isigny Sainte-Mère.

Each producer is accompanied by information about its history and craftsmanship, making the shopping experience as educational as it is delicious.

One of the shop's most distinctive features is its butter tasting experience. Yes, you'll be invited to sample butter on its own before making your choice.

It may sound unusual at first, but these exceptional butters are so rich in flavour and character that tasting them feels more like sampling fine chocolate or artisan cheese than an everyday dairy product.

The range is remarkable. Alongside classic salted and unsalted varieties, you'll find more adventurous creations such as vanilla butter, chocolate butter, wild garlic butter, seaweed butter and luxurious truffle butter.

The staff are always happy to recommend the best pairing for each variety—because while chocolate butter is delicious, it's probably not the one to serve with oysters.

The boutique also stocks a charming selection of French butter knives, making for a practical and uniquely French souvenir.

Travelling home? There's no need to worry about transporting your purchases. The shop can vacuum-seal your butter using a special machine to help preserve its freshness during your journey, and insulated cooler bags are also available for longer trips.

Le Butter Shop is not onlua butter boutique: the shelves are also stocked with a carefully curated selection of iconic French gourmet products, including wines, artisanal mustards, biscuits, chestnut spread and other regional delicacies from some of France's finest producers.

If you're planning a picnic, the shop has you covered. Ready-to-enjoy picnic sets include a selection of cheese, butter, wine and other French specialities, making it easy to put together an authentic gourmet meal in minutes.

The location couldn't be more convenient. Just a short walk from the Champ de Mars and the Eiffel Tower, as well as the Esplanade des Invalides, Le Butter Shop is the perfect place to stock up before enjoying a leisurely Parisian picnic. Simply pick your favourite treats, find a spot on the grass, and savour one of France's simplest—and most delicious—pleasures.
